All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Burntwood Car Hire, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with possible extra charges for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, as well as any additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Burntwood branch. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually collected at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle from Burntwood Car Hire, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car at the time of collection. When returning the vehicle, it must be in the same condition as when collected, apart from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same amount of fuel to avoid refueling fees. Late returns could incur extra charges, so please notify us if you expect to return the vehicle later than planned. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals at Burntwood include basic third-party insurance. You can find full details regarding coverage and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. There may be options for additional insurance to help lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, even with insurance in place.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. Please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for specific information regarding your reservation. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or any risky endeavors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is also prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used for its intended purposes only. Exceeding passenger or weight limits is not permitted. Driving outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior consent is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Burntwood will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Burntwood Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
