Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations during the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Burntwood Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the selected category and held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Burntwood office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions secured by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is crucial to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same state as when it was collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied as necessary. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; otherwise, refueling fees will be incurred. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect to be late. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the amount of notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-road driving, or any other dangerous conduct. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, within designated weight and passenger limits. Traveling outside agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Burntwood Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This exclusion does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
